The Best Part of Me

Oh Sweet Summer Child of Mine

With a prominent curly crown and melanin filled skin divine

I grow in awe of you, every second of every hour

Get lost in your endearing eyes that radiate power

The world didn’t know beauty until your birth

and that’s just one of your soul’s many gifts on this Earth

A black king who’s brilliance is unmatched

A smile that’ll make angels blush, How could anyone not grow attached?

I asked for a light in the darkness and God gave me a son

I may be slightly biased, but I believe you are the Chosen one

It’s been the greatest honor watching you grow

I’m sometimes still in shock that i’m a part of this show

I promise to love and support you, give you every part of me

Just to make sure you grow into a powerful king for all to see

Its Pumpkin Carving Time

It’s been a while, but my wife and I are back at it again! We just posted our vlog on pumpkin carving. This was a special experience for me since I’ve never done it before. Not even in my childhood. I hope you all take a chance and watch it! We had sooo much fun.

Buried within your soul young man lives the destiny of  kings

Awaiting the chance to take hold and help you sprout golden wings

Young woman from birth you were adorned with a golden crown

Granted by God, a priceless symbol worth more than a worldly gown

Remember Father Destiny makes no mistakes!

That’s why my Ebony child, your successes make the world QUAKE!

Your very breath in this world is a proclamation of victory

your every decision is an opportunity to sculpt out a new history!

its coded to your simplest codon to triumph over adversity

To fight against oppression with a royal tenacity

The world around you is determined to make you forget!

A darkness that’s afraid of your light, that was born upset

But you’ll succeed with ease as your melanin skin absorbs light

just filling yourself with glory out of spite

Nothing can stop you from being queens and kings

We always have been, and will be, Magnificent royal beings!

I’m your heroin coursing through your veins

Give yourself to me, let me take the reins

Let me deep into you, numbing you like novocaine

Poetic Ice lives! (And is on YouTube Now!)

As the title implies, I am alive and back to writing again! I have grown a lot in my absence as a man, a husband, writer, and vlogger now. I posted a poem a few weeks ago, Can I Live?, and it was a relief to my psyche to be able to express myself as well as tackle a social issue that still plagues this country. I missed being able to write and share my feelings with the world. As an author/poet/blogger I want nothing more than for the world to see and feel something from my work. This is the start of me reclaiming my former talent and share it with the world. Expect more from me and hopefully by the end of summer (September or October) I’ll be pumping out a poetry book!
