Dreaming

Dreams
They may be prophetic
Never pathetic
Each with its own meaning
Trying to teach you something
Hoping you hold onto one thing
Sanity barely in your grip
Some dreams cause it to slip
What’s with this imagery?
Often times cryptic dark imagery
To teach you to cherish the light
Yet filling you with abrasive fright
Fall has arrived, time for rakes
Watch under the leaves for snakes
Betrayal and enemies in the air
Your dream warning, the only thing making this fair
Terrifying thoughts of death
Maybe even material item theft
What do all these dreams mean
Are they just another bout of rapids in my mental stream?

Insanity

The world broadcasts insanity/
We have been thrust into calamity/
Peace, rare.
Violence, common
Riots happening
Looting our ties to humamity/
Selling it on the chaotic black market/
The world is burning with a flame we can’t see/
A blaze that will disintegrate you and me/
Men, women, black, and white/
Asian Latino, European, all living in fright/
Wondering if their brethren is next up for senseless slaughter/
Just to be beheaded in the streets as useless fodder/
Shot down in cold blood/
It’s amazing the world hasn’t drowned in this crimson flood/
Death visits all stages of life/
Babies have died at the hands if the car and heat’s knife/
Mothers and fathers claimed by insanity murder their kids/
Mercenaries taking lives for the highest bids/
A grown man kills a boy and roams free/
A woman fires a warning shot at abuse and jail is where she be/
Everyday is filled with new threats/
Just trying to survive your morning commute is a risky bet/
The media broadcasts all this insanity/
Until it’s normal to be consumed with calamity/
It hardens your heart living in this world/
The violence is starting to own this world/
Are we at the point where we’re all insane?/
Has chaos finally broken through order’s membrane?/
I’m sick of all the calamity/
It’s delving my mind into insanity/

To Be Human Is To Be Powerless

To be human is to be powerless. To live is to be fragile. So to make up for our weakness we ascertain power through knowledge and innovation. Innovation that leads to “technology”. Whether it was the wheel or contacts that detect drop in blood glucose levels, we revel in our technology because it makes us feel powerful.

“Humanity has grown immensely powerful with their advancements in knowledge and technology. We can prolong life and live better, but we will never prevent death. Only delay it. We are growing in power yes, but we are but fledgling trees standing in the path of the Hurricane that is God. We know not of true power but we fantasize about it.”

I say that because now matter how powerful we make ourselves We won’t stop the inevitability of death. It’s the common denominator amongst us mortal beings, and when we are reminded of that fact I hate it so much. It’s that reminder that makes you feel so helplessly powerless in life no matter the knowledge and power you posses.

A reminder came for me today at my job. This week there has just been an abnormal rise in the humane euthanasia rate so all of my co-workers were feeling their mortality. None more so than the Veterinarians I’m sure. But today a patient with a terminal condition came for a routine check up and was exhibiting signs of distress. With this job you see this day in and day out, and are trained to know this could improve for a while, or go downhill quickly. I KNOW that going in to the Vet Clinic everyday. But seeing this pet struggle just to find comfort and then finally getting comfortable softened my exterior long enough to be reminded we are only humans with limited control. Once the patient started to settle the clients were ready to check out, but in a matter of minutes their conditioned crashed and we were rushing to save its life. It was seconds, but felt like an eternity, and eventually the pet passed away in my arms. As a human you come face To face with your own mortality when you see the life leave another beings eyes. It hurt me to be powerless in stopping that pets passing. At the same time I knew it was better that way instead prolonging their suffering. Humans make the call for Humane Euthanasia all the time, and we have been all week it seems but this time it was God who took over the situation.

It was a reminder that at any given moment things could change, and our power is rendered useless in the face of Destiny. We are Human, a fleeting fragile thing that try to to dominate this Earth. It’s our nature to live and obtain as much power as we can so we do. We strengthen our fragility to its peak, more so with each passing generation. Why? Because we must continue to improve. To stop would mean to cease to exist, and we humans no matter how many times we are reminded we aren’t always in charge won’t stop searching for power.

To be human is to be powerless. To live is to be fragile. To have a finite mortality means defying it at every turn until the end. That is our destiny.

But that’s just my two cents on the world around me

Violence

Violence
Running rampant in our world/
Torturing our community/
Killing our people/
Protected under the law/
America’s frozen heart will never thaw/
Zimmerman and Dunn
“Stood Their ground” and won/
Martin and Davis bled out away from parents, never again to see the sun/
Irony never hit harder in the sunshine state/
Its apparent if you own a gun you control fate/
The fates of unarmed children/
Honestly does that make you a hero then?/
A hoodie, skittles, music, and tea…/
Did you know they were your life’s fee?/
Martin and Davis and so many others/
God, do you hear all of the weeping fathers and mothers?/
Brothers and sisters?
All because of two unforgiving misters?
Zimmerman and Dunn
let me ask do you feel our shun?
Or rage, hate fear, disgust, confusion?
At the fact that you are afforded rights, and you abused them?
Remorse?
Regret?
Do you feel them?
Your psychological wounds, time may never heal them/
This mental struggle is yours and yours alone/
Because these boys can never go home/
You stood you ground in Florida, you know your rights.
But would there be a ground to stand on if they were whites?
Or girls
Muslim or atheist?
Or in another country?
In a dictatorship or empire?/
A democracy allows you to vote on whats murder or not./
And votes can always be bought!/
As long as I pay my taxes and feel threatened without proof I can decide who gets shot/
If you can’t see the wrong in this, you’re blind/
What warped propaganda has twisted your mind?/
Your another zimmerman and Dunn waiting to happen/
And when it does your like minded clan will be clapping/
We as humans apparently need something to save us/
Before there is another Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis.

R.I.P. Young men, guide us from the other side and greet us with arms opened wide my brothers, not because of race, because of our humanity. A fact forgotten by many.
