Sacred Swords, The Novel

image

I’d like to take the opportunity to share my novel with yet another audience because I’m a writer simply looking for readers. A few years back I met my wife and the floodgates of inspiration opened and never closed. I’ve written hundreds of poems and countless short stories all based on my interactions with her. I wouldn’t be half the writer I am today if it wasn’t for her. That being said, my novel Sacred Swords came of a dream I had about her one night.  I started writing it just to get the idea out of my head and then boom it was a full novel length story that I published through Xlibris.

Sacred Swords takes place in an alternate world where all things seem normal like our world until two young adults take their spring break trip to the beach city of Port Coastal, a fictional city on the coast of South Carolina. Once there two Sacrd Swords are bequeathed to them from the sky and their journey begins.

Not only do the two main characters learn they are descended from two ancient Gods, they learn that they must protect the world from a great evil that is on the verge of returning. Creatures they believed to be fictional are real and more times than not a threat to their existence as they learn and grow towards mastering their blades and natural abilities. Long time friends are not all they seem, and tomorrow isn’t certain for them as they try to prevent the world’s destruction.

It’s an action packed story from beginning to end and I would love to share it with the world. It’s out and available now for order and digital download.

I’ve made a Facebook page for it, http://www.Facebook.com/sacredswords u also post things for my other original stories too.

If the link below doesn’t work let me know I’ll give another

Selfless in your selfishness

One selfless act of selfishness
Feeds the flames of pain
Like a malevolent kerosene rain
You call yourself a hero
A title you will foolishly hold with pride
Not even realizing you sent my heart on a hell ride
You mistake my strength because of my youth
But it’s your naivety that portrays your lack of Maturity
Unlike you I have perfect acuity
I deserve my chance at equality
But you stripped that with a gesture that is grand
And you will question me when I make my stand
As my intellect grew I earned my place in this world!
One you neglect, like it’s not my right!
So when I don’t answer your call remember you started this fight!
Your selfishness was under the guise of selfless
And for that I will silently cry
Because relationships are alive, and you just caused this one to slowly die

Fallen Hero

I saved you once
I didn’t force a path upon you, but guided you towards the light
You called me your hero
I finally hung up my cape
After walking in the light for a while you turned from the Sun’s gleaming light
I don’t think you did it out of spite
Because you let ephemeral passion rip you from the lights bosom
I once again take up the cape
Before you make a full escape
I battle the forces of darkness on your behalf
But when I outstretch my hand to save you from the ledge, You gave me the shaft
Your words are my kryptonite that makes me stop
Your eyes pierce through me pleading for a savior
What do I do? I can’t force what’s right upon you
But I can’t let the darkness consume you
So I take of my cape a final time and give it to you
I willingly throw myself to the black flames on your behalf
Why you ask? Because I love you too much to let you fall
Use the cape to never stray from the light, but next time you will have to save yourself

Room Full Of Vultures

Their eyes are on you.
Let em watch.
They want you dead.
Let em prey.
Stay in step, dont you dare change./
Show em how to move in a room full of vultures./
Walk proud with yo head held high./
Show em how to move in a room full of vultures./
They built their lives up hating yours.
Let em./
They try to sew seeds of deceit in your life./
But their green thumb died./
They are stalking you but dont you dare speed up./
Trot bravely and show em how to walk in a room full of vultures./
Dont play their stupid game, just win it./
Show em how to walk in a room full of vultures./
They constantly break glass in ya path to hurt you./
Keep walkin on your Iron will and you wont be hurt./
They lose they mind over you and throw condoms in the air, waiting for you to f**k up./
Abstain their fickle hate and move forward./
They beg you to change from your greatness./
Dont you dare give in, show em how to walk in a room full of vultures./
Leave the suckas in their closed box and keep your mind free./
Show em how to walk in a room full of vultures./

Raw Power

Ever wake up and felt like you had undeniable raw power?

Like you could reshape the world around you within the hour?

Okay maybe not on such a grand scale.

But why not casually hold the power to throw a blue whale?

Is this the power to control the world’s very elements?

Or with a simple touch cure all earthly ailments.

Ok its not that, but this feeling isn’t a coincedence.

Its something better, God given Self-Confidence.

A feeling of immense power from within thy self.

A power that should be used, its part of your wealth.

Look in the mirror smiling, and bring yourself to prominence.

Always take pride in you, exude your Self-Confidence.

16-21

She is so confident in her arrogance
so full of hubris it’s pathetic
her pride blinded her to the modest truth
her walk is so beautifully grotesque
she inspires the gossip that we crave for
you know, the words we seek such as WHORE
her credo is her body is a temple
but the monks don’t worship there
because the once holy fountains spew liquor now
second hand smoke clouds her lungs
but her brain takes a long drage on stupidity
she so proudly claims no man will make her break her vow
the vow she made to God, but her fingers were crossed by Satan
Long before she said I do, she laid down with a few
but if anyone ask, she’s a virgin
who must be named Mary, but she wasn’t carrying Christ
the liquor caused her to miscarry her twins
Twins who shall be named hope and salvation
the loss of all redemption caused her to commit suicide
but she didn’t slit her wrist or overdose
she fucked away her life, sleeping with any able bodied man
until she caved in, and lay her head upon the chest of A.I.D.S
And slowly drifted away to a final sleep
But she will never rest in peace
her name will always be spoken among the masses
because she was the one girl who lied to herself and started taking shot glasses/
her story will be passed by word of mouth as a warning to girls
girls ages 16-21, because this is there possible story

A poem I wrote a few years back, but will forever remain relevant. Girls don’t need to give up their bodies for attention and love, but they do it. It’s sad but continues to happen, so we must educate the ones who haven’t yet and let them know that this is not the way, sex does not lead to status in life. In most cases it will only lead to them receiving a derogatory title from their peers. Sex can wait young ladies, and drugs and alcohol are not a prequisite to be known to the world around your, or to hide your pain… Ask for help if you need it, never try to drown or smoke it away.

Family

They are the people who love you.
Hold you
Teach you
Nurture you
There when you are sad
The ones that drive you mad
The biggest support structure you have
And the ones who induce the most rage
Make you feel free in a cage
Trapped in your free expression
At the same time the reason for your progression
The main combatants of your oppression
Welcomed you with open arms when you came from above
They are the physical form of true love
A conundrum in and of itself
But they are your family, an inexhaustible form of wealth

Violence

Violence
Running rampant in our world/
Torturing our community/
Killing our people/
Protected under the law/
America’s frozen heart will never thaw/
Zimmerman and Dunn
“Stood Their ground” and won/
Martin and Davis bled out away from parents, never again to see the sun/
Irony never hit harder in the sunshine state/
Its apparent if you own a gun you control fate/
The fates of unarmed children/
Honestly does that make you a hero then?/
A hoodie, skittles, music, and tea…/
Did you know they were your life’s fee?/
Martin and Davis and so many others/
God, do you hear all of the weeping fathers and mothers?/
Brothers and sisters?
All because of two unforgiving misters?
Zimmerman and Dunn
let me ask do you feel our shun?
Or rage, hate fear, disgust, confusion?
At the fact that you are afforded rights, and you abused them?
Remorse?
Regret?
Do you feel them?
Your psychological wounds, time may never heal them/
This mental struggle is yours and yours alone/
Because these boys can never go home/
You stood you ground in Florida, you know your rights.
But would there be a ground to stand on if they were whites?
Or girls
Muslim or atheist?
Or in another country?
In a dictatorship or empire?/
A democracy allows you to vote on whats murder or not./
And votes can always be bought!/
As long as I pay my taxes and feel threatened without proof I can decide who gets shot/
If you can’t see the wrong in this, you’re blind/
What warped propaganda has twisted your mind?/
Your another zimmerman and Dunn waiting to happen/
And when it does your like minded clan will be clapping/
We as humans apparently need something to save us/
Before there is another Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis.

R.I.P. Young men, guide us from the other side and greet us with arms opened wide my brothers, not because of race, because of our humanity. A fact forgotten by many.

Love Is War

Love is War

Finding true love is really the easy part/
In truth that’s where it will all start/
I know you thought that war was won/
But grab your weapons, this is where it has begun/
The one you love will now and forever be you greatest ally/
But more often than not will be on the opposing end of your battle cry/
Warriors of amour, launching opinions and firing feelings/
Tearing away your armor like frail onion peelings/
Your heart and soul truly open to your lover/
They know your every thought and plan, how to wound and how to recover/
You will argue fight and fuss/
Stomp around grandstand and cuss/
All necessary parts of love’s war/
Never to be considered a tedious chore/
Because when gunfire rains down from outside/
They’ll be the one to which you’ll confide/
Oh how quickly will they come to arms for you/
At that point you will realize this love is true/
All sides of love are War/
But every crashing wave eventually breaks onto a peaceful shore/
It’s worth it to be in this fight/
So arm up and finish it with all your might!/

Power, Corruption, Cruelty

First, the poem titled Corrupt.

Corrupt
The corrupt create causes of cruelty/
That are heinous hurtful and harmful/
To your serenity, sanctuary, and soul/
But why? Why must they hold this control?/
To the core it is a primal need/
This dark tendencies are a beast ready to feed/
True evil is a man corrupting his seed/
Changing the flower to a parasitic weed/
Using children to spread your wrath/
It’s a disgust unlike anything hell hath/
The destruction of happy homes from the inside out/
The breakage of hearts, letting the love pour out/
An adult with selfish behavior/
Creating the image of a false saviour/
No rhyme or reason why the evil exists/
But said no matter if detained or not, it will persist/
The corrupt create causes of cruelty…….

Now, the discussion about the subject matter at hand based on a personal experience. Power, it has the ability to corrupt. Once a person has it they feel the need to be in complete and utter control of the world around them. When they lose their grip on that power they turn cruel if they aren’t already. It is something that is sad and frightening once it goes that route.

A man using underhanded tricks to maintain his power is already wrong. But a man using his kids as a show of power to destroy a good thing just because he has no power over it anymore is just evil. Evil in its purest form to me is the manipulation of children’s innocence to do wrong.

I watched a young child ripped from a happy home that they didn’t want to leave because their sibling was manipulated to believe that someone was doing them wrong. Even though said person has done nothing but sacrifice to ensure their survival and happiness. The younger sibling has been torn between sibling loyalty and finding their own path in life. The older has lost their own identity to their fathers will/need to control all life around him at the cost of everyone’s joy. A heinous act that was a plan that was in the works for months that came to a head like a tactical nuke going off at a dynamite factory. They only reason any of the heartache and pain they went through happened is because that man lost all power, so he exuded cruelty to make everyone around him just as miserable.

I know power doesn’t always corrupt and lead to cruelty, but when it does no one is happy in the end. That’s just my observation of the world around me.

So does power equal cruelty? What’s your opinion.
